About this piece
Three mid-century stamp-collecting catalogs and booklets, sold together:
• United States Specialized Catalog of First Day Covers, 1961, 28th Edition, compiled and edited by Leo August, The Washington Press, Maplewood, New Jersey. Softcover, with an introduction to FDC collecting and a United Nations first-day-cover section.
• The Stamp Finder / U.S. Stamp Identifier / How to Collect Postage Stamps, Philatelic Institute (a division of H. E. Harris & Co.), Cambridge, Mass., 1958 printing (copyright 1954), 25-cent cover price; illustrated, with a 1942 Deutsches Reich Tag der Briefmarke stamp on the cover.
• Stamps of the United States 1972–1973 price list (Brookman Co., Boston), covering U.S., Confederate States, United Nations and Canal Zone, with a stamp dealer's imprint for The Centennial, Stamps, Coins & Antiquities, Lincoln, Nebraska, and a printed perforation gauge on the back.
Used, good condition overall: light cover wear and some toning and spotting, a small dealer price sticker on the FDC catalog, and light creasing to the price-list cover.
A nice little reference group for U.S. and FDC collectors, or for anyone who enjoys period philatelic paper and old dealer price lists.
