Linen postcard of the Church of the Sacred Heart, Tampa, Florida (card 77), published by the Hillsboro News Co., Tampa, Florida. The front shows the white stone church with its large rose window, arched entrance and domed tower, flanked by brick buildings, with 1930s-era cars parked along a street with streetcar tracks. Standard 3.5 x 5.5 in, posted from Tampa in January 1942. Good used condition with light corner and edge wear, light toning, and a handwritten message, address, postmark and stamp on the back.

Back caption: "This magnificent structure is equally imposing within, the interior being fashioned along Gothic lines most attractively." Imprint: "Pub. by Hillsboro News Co., Tampa, Florida - Made in U.S.A." with number 13522.

Postmarked Tampa, Fla., Jan 17, 1942 with a World War II era "Buy Defense Savings Bonds and Stamps" slogan cancel, on a green 1 cent National Defense stamp (Statue of Liberty, "Industry Agriculture for Defense"). Addressed to Miss Stella of Duluth, Minnesota, with a later pencil address added. The writer, signing as Al, expects to be back by April, says it is sunny and warm down here, and comments on the mix of people living in Tampa.
