Antique steel engraving portrait of Andrew Johnson, President of the United States, with his facsimile signature and the title "Andrew Johnson / President of the United States" below. The imprint under the portrait reads Published by J.C. Buttre, 48 Franklin St., New York, with photographer and engraver credits in fine print. Shown in an oval window in a gray linen-look mat, in a stained wood frame under glass, about 24 x 29 inches framed. Used; there is a small crease or short tear in the paper at right of the portrait, light spotting near the lower right, and wear to the frame.

J.C. Buttre was one of the leading New York portrait engravers of the Civil War era. A good piece for presidential, Tennessee or Civil War and Reconstruction collectors.
