About this piece

Antique stereoview by Bierstadt Brothers, Photographers, No. 337 "Great Organ, in Music Hall, Boston, Mass.", showing the towering carved organ case with its pipe towers and statues above the stage, the balconies and rows of seats. Orange flat mount, about 6.9 x 3.4 inches. Used condition with edge soiling and light foxing.

The back carries the printed imprint "Bierstadt Brothers, Photographers, China Hall, 39 Purchase Street, New Bedford, Mass." and a handwritten pencil number at the upper right.

The Great Organ was installed in the Boston Music Hall in 1863, making this an early view of one of the most famous American concert organs. A fine piece for organ and music history collectors, Boston views, and early stereoviews by the Bierstadt Brothers of New Bedford.
